kawaiinoir: Petition against the tattooing of animals for aesthetic purposes in the UK

I'm sorry if you've already seen this and apologies for cross-posting everywhere but I really wanted to spread the word about this petition. It can only be signed by UK citizens. It is against the tattooing of animals for aesthetic purposes. Not only does that cause pain to the animal without any just cause but it can also lead to further complications such as infections and severe allergic reaction. This is completely cruel and unnecessary and I hope some people will sign.

Here is the petition:

I'm sorry if this is inappropriate, though I checked the user info of all the communities I posted to. Please delete if so.

throwafit: Eye Cream

Can anyone recommend a good eye cream? I'm not concerned about relieving puffiness or dark circles, I am looking for a moisturizer to avoid lines from forming. I bought Burt's Bees Royal Jelly Eye Cream today and it's so thick! It's quite thick and waxy, and I'm not sure it's something that I see myself continuing to use. Thanks for your suggestions!

idiolatry: 3 Questions!

I'm still working on making all the right transitions in to veganism. I've done it with food and most of my bathroom products. However, I have a few quick questions (and yes, I did read the memories but I'm looking for more opinions/information as well as more updated info in general as some of the memory posts were several years old). So here goes!

1. Cigarettes! I know, I know... it's not healthy. I don't smoke a whole lot (I've never been a pack a day kind of girl, more of a social smoker or i'll have one on occasion if I'm driving, etc) and yes, I realize I need to quit, so please let's not turn this in to an anti-smoker crusade. I'm just wondering if all cigarettes have any kind of non-vegan product or are tested on animals, etc. Are there any better alternatives (at least until I make more of an effort to quit)?

2. Razors and/or Waxing (Hair removal in general)! I know most razors are tested on animals which I really hate. I know i've seen a few different options that are vegan/eco-friendly. Anyone want to recommend which they found worked best, though? How about waxing? Vegan/nonvegan? Should one contact the place they're looking to be waxed at first to find out? What do you all suggest? (And yes, I do realize some choose not to have hair removed all together, but that's always a personal choice one can make)

3. Tampons! First, I do realize that there are things like diva cups and menstrual pads and that these are better options. Perhaps I'm being narrow minded in my wanting to stick to tampons (at least for now), but for some reason things like diva cups scare me in to thinking I might always feel it and thus be uncomfortable. Does this vary from person to person? I've never enjoyed pads either as I feel that it always makes me feel messy and uncomfortable. Does anyone have any other options they know of or can recommend any kind of organic/more eco-friendly/vegan tampon? I'm open to suggestions.

Sorry for such a length post, but I hope it proves helpeful not only to myself but others looking to make better changes in their lives :)

Cross posted.

idiolatry: Hair Loss Products?

Hey Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone might be able to recommend me some vegan/natural products/remedies for hair loss? I'm pretty sure it's stress related (I'm only 23) and I'm taking a B-complex and Vitamin E supplements right now. I was taking iron pills for a while but they had negative effects on my body (they might have been too strong though and I'm open to suggestions for a not so aggressive iron pill). I've switched to more natural shampoos/conditioners and I don't condition too heavily either. I heard aloe was a good treatment, anyone with experience with that? Any other things you could recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know if there are any cruelty free companies that make decent razor blades? I was sad to see Gilette on the list of Bad Companies.
